Purpose (noun) : The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

I think as a single woman with no children, the thing I struggle with most is purpose. When you have an immediate family you are reminded each day of the reason why you live. It's the look in the eyes of those who love and appreciate you. It’s in the smile, the hugs, the thank yous, the momentous occasions and the quality time you begin to take for granted--they are all constant reminders that your very existence has a defined meaning and an impact on the lives of others.  Yet, when you come home to an empty house each day, that daily reminder isn’t there so you are forced to seek the answer to that question in other ways and outside your place of residence.

Am I lonely?   No

Am I sad?   No

However, sometimes I wonder if the things I do and say are truly making a significant impact on anyone’s life other than mine? If I stopped encouraging others, writing books, blogging, etc. would anyone care? Do I truly have a purpose? Some days the answer comes swiftly, of course I do. Others days, I am left to wonder longer than I would like.

There’s no lesson to be learned in this one. Just the random musings of a single woman who sometimes wonders why she’s here and if the reasons she thinks she's here really matter. Maybe I should get a dog. (-:

Don't Eat the Candy!

Dear Valentine's Day Candy Makers:

I was in the store today and noticed that you already have your candy out. I know it's chocked full of preservatives but there's something about buying or consuming candy that I know has been sitting out for over a month that seems a little disturbing. Consider putting it out a little closer to the big day. I have to eat that crap after some well meaning young man buys it for me. (-:
